No disrespect, but I think there’s one small line missing in this article: Congratulations to Elina Svitolina on her win.

Children’s fiction is positively littered with oprhans, and has been, for hundreds of years. It is a plot device that allows the character to act outside the bounds of what a fully-parented child would be able/allowed to do. Orphan heroes and heroines in children’s entertainment is most definitely NOT something just…
I am a feminist you dipshit. And girls can be girly if they want or they can be tomboys or whatever else. I’m not even girly but yeah, I like Belle, Mulan, Elsa, Merida, Jasmine, and Tiana. Oh noes! I’ve betrayed feminists everywhere by liking a well written princess character! Whatever shall I do!
It’s not just Disney, though. Children’s literature is full of orphans, or children whose parents are absent: Anne of Green Gables, The Boxcar Children, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, any number of fairy tales, boarding school stories....
Um, Tiana owns a restaurant, Mulan was a warrior who saved all of China, Pocahontas gave up her “Prince” to become her village’s main diplomat with the colonists. And if we want to talk recent Disney women who are not princesses, Vanellope in Wreck it Ralph gave up her princess title with the hopes of running for…
The plot was totally unbalanced, a lot of the jokes fell flat, there was a totally shoe-horned romance that made everyone uncomfortable, and a lot of the action was dreary. Plus too many characters. :/ It was a mess. Sorry, gotta disagree with you.
Wow, great song that I never would have thought of as a first dance. I can picture it working wonderfully though.
SAAAAAME. Whatever combination of endearingly melodramatic Theater Kid romance and hilarious PR trolling is happening here is amazing and I am completely delighted.
Fuck it. I love them together. They are both over-earnest, slightly awkward people with very “safe” public personas. Idk/c if it’s real, fake, whatever. I think they are perfect for each other, and I love that people are losing their shit over it.
I do love Jez’s justification bullshit for something any other athlete would get raked over the coals for. But it’s Serena, yas queen or whatever so it’s all cool.
nah, this behavior is bullshit. i love serena but she’s not good at controlling her anger
So much for being a professional.
She’s tacky.
Her tantrum was uncalled for and disappointing.
Serena always finds a away to discredit her opponent when she’s not winning. Classy.
That Texas woman wasn’t a reverse Atwood—she was a straight up Medea. That’s some classical shit right there.
