i find it kind of encouraging that game sales are eclipsing movie sales. paying $10+ for 2 hours worth of entertainment always seemed kind of silly to me, but i guess that's the only way to fund massive blockbusters. games give you much more bang for your buck.

competitive multiplayer. the same thing can be accomplished by frequently balancing and patching an existing game, but that just doesn't bring in the same kind of money.
