Uh, okay.
Uh, okay.
I'm not saying Joss Whedon hasn't made some questionable choices over the years, and I think some of his usual tics are quite dated and even cringeworthy. But too many critics and bloggers today are are too eager to take his scalp in hot takes as part of this strange progressive media ritual of savaging all…
Uh oh.
Whereas I haven't seen Pretty Thing but I'm hoping it's better than this, which intrigued but ultimately disappointed me when I saw it as February. The director is skilled but the film is so thin. People overhype any piece of atmospheric horror that comes out these days- The Witch pulled it off but a lot of others…
Haven't seen Pretty Thing, but IMO this movie is the same.
I saw this a while back after hearing all the festival hype and was fairly disappointed. It's beautifully shot and intricately designed, but in the final analysis I felt there was so little 'there' there. When you do that kind of intense abstraction you have to be able to deliver on the central thrust of what you're…
I'm pretty sure that is the case, yes
I went all in with Yosuke, whose gay option they only removed at the last moment (and who keeps reading super-gay and crushing on the MC throughout the game and spinoffs).
Pliers!!
My only issue: Allegedly no gay romance option. I know, it's Japan but still. The femme-y painter and that one kid named after Yukio frickin Mishima are gagging for it.
The answer is all of them. The studio screwed the pooch when they delayed.
The Fukunaga draft(s) I saw were pretty goddamn good. I hope they've kept some/most of that.
Agreed on all this. It was about the contrast on MST, whereas RiffTrax is just nasty.
Agreed. I adore Mike and co. (and preferred Mike to Joel despite watching the show since Season 2), but RiffTrax always feels nastier and more angry yet juvenile, plus I find the choice of films to be like fish in a barrel. There's more of a challenge to the MST3K selection, and the humor seems fresher and more open.
I don't care what anyone says, I still fucking love The Leisure Hive
I'm sure they'll get along.
Depends.
You aren't the only one who grew up watching a lot of anime. And Asian cinema (past and present) has been a major part of my personal and professional life for decades as well, which is part of why I feel some stories are universally adaptable and others are definitely not. Regardless, if we're going to talk about how…
Got you covered above (and other posts). Bye.
I suggest you go back through my posts discussing the roots of GITS' material and its focus on transhumanism in general.
