The reason the first movie was good (or at least, not crap), is that it was made to be a fun movie, not taking itself very seriously. I still think it was one of the most “fun” videogame-based movie out there.

OMG. The first Mortal Kombat hit all the right notes, tight story, not taking itself to seriously, Christopher Lambert just chewing up the lines, and fucking great techno music. And although it was “dark” it actually had a great positive feeling around it.

This is a minor point, but Jay-Z’s $1 million minority stake deal out of the two billion Prokhorov spent to buy the Nets/Barclays Center did not “speed up the hyper-gentrification of Brooklyn.”

I’m a little bit conflicted about this. While I agree this whole thing is a bad look for Jay-Z, I find it hard to side with either Eric Reid or Kaepernick completely.

I think the argument is the fact that his 1 million dollar investment seemed to “cosign” a massive symbol of the hyper-gentrification Brooklyn was experiencing. Basically, in Do The Right Thing terms, instead of throwing the trash can, Jay Z decided to defend Sal and tell the black people “stop protesting.”
