It really is, and I was so surprised that the lead actor was the same one from Mother and that he works so infrequently despite being so versatile.

I sure did, after 3 extreme s and I Saw the Devil I went looking for more of the director’s work. Many of the directors are so talented, I just slowly make my way through their credits. Jee-woon Kim, Chan wook Park, Hong Jin Na, and Ki-duk Kim are my favorites.

Park is a genius and Korean thriller s are just insane on gp. Some of my other favorites: rest of the Vengeance trilogy, Memories of Murder, Mother, Confession s of Murder, Chaser, The Villainess, The Yellow Sea, I Saw the Devil, The Man From Nowhere, Montage, No Mercy.

Tom Hollander (playing 3 roles, apparently!)

I loved the visual elements of Get Out, and Us looks like it will also have excellent cinematography. I am more than ready.

The most absurd thing about that case is how they have been left to investigate themselves with no oversite.

Yes and was very underutilized. I realize there is not much crossover appeal here, but she was excellent as Princess Margaret on Netflix’s The Crown.

Exactly it’s so small it’ll eventually be illegible, which given the current situation is probably for the best.

I didn’t mind the time jump in S2 because the new character s were interesting and older characters were still there in some kind of capacity. The writing was significantly better in the prior seasons. I enjoy the ocassional line this season but I feel like the strength of the overall narrative is propping up the drop

Dont bother to engage. Whatamithinking is the resident Fed\Russian that crawl s out to mimic what they believe is appropriate jargon so they can spew nonsense like this. They never interact beyond their own post, and they’ll disappear on non political articles.

Even if the argument is the artist considered her as solely Japanese, there are Japanese artist/character designers that have depicted Japanese people with dark skin and bushy hair. Japan has capable Japanese artist that would have done better, they only picked the guy because Osaka is a tennis player and his manga is

Firstly they were never white, they are Japanese and are seen as such by the Japanese. Because of eurocentricity, colonialism, and white supremacy in the West they are “seen” as white because that’s the lens we have been programmed to look through. There actually very few “white” characters. That being said there have

Yes its a commercial, that they placed into the hands of manga\anime character designer artist: the portrayal of Osaka was in keeping with creator Takeshi Konomi’s distinctive style. Konomi incorporated the depictions of the 21-year-old Osaka and Nishikori into characters from his manga and animated series The Prince

In run with the wind that scene doesn’t mention the sitting. He’s supposed to be an exchange student from Togo that has been going to school/working in Japan for some time. They do mention his Japanese is excellent, which is a departure from the norm in how foreigners are depicted. There are still some cringy scenes

They are right to place the blame with the character designer/artist. As a black person whose watched a whole lot of anime for a really long time, there are some artists/designers that have problem getting people of color right, so the fact that it’s Japan I hope is not an excuse that any one tries to employ. Some

I know her mostly from Broadchurch were she goes back and forth with David Tennant so well. She was awesome in The Favorite Im definitely rooting for her.

I was so good Incredible s probably thought they had it in the bag

I'll get to A Star Is Born eventually but there is no way GaGa can look at Meryl and Olivia Coleman's body of work and think she has a chance.

I love Spike Lee, I have been a fan since Do the right thing and still remember how watching Malcolm X required two VHS tapes. I never said he didnt deserve to be nominated, or that it was bad. However his movie, Vice, anc BoRhap were just okay. I’d argue that many of his films were much better e.g. Miracle at St.
