I read The Stand back in mid 90's after the mini-series so it was not available then, but 345 extra pages is a lot of new material I’ll definitely re-read it.

King has a lot of issues, the only male character that I can recall being raped was trashman in The Stand, but even then it was more of a recall by the character and not a written out in detail.
