I know all of your points and agree with most but for casual players around the globe, the majority of that makes jack shit of a difference once the hype machine/ads start eating up everything. It will sell just fine. 

Sort of a different scenario because controlling the song catalogue is a pretty big bargaining chip. You can do an unauthorized biography of a nobody pretty easy if your audience isn’t expecting to hear specific music they’ve licensed. So unsure how much leverage she had in content even if she is a producer.

I haven’t seen the movie, but 2002 puts it in a time when teens generally didn’t have cell phones, and the general public didn’t have phone with cameras on them (for, say, when you see a giant red panda on the street).
