I didn’t know the script was about there being a “real-world” that Barbie figures out. I don’t like that - I think it’d be much more whimsical and interesting to just play with the conceit that Barbie’s world is...the world, and we stay there the whole time.

I’ll still check this out for the production design alone but…

Beetlejuice did it the best, although I found its songs overall lacking. But god that movie winked more than any other musical before it, and was better for it.
