There is a guy at work who does this about work issues. He’ll ask you a direct, reasonable, and relevant question and you’ll be in the middle of answering and he’ll 1) cut you off in a failing attempt to show you he was listening, 2) switch the topic to another work issue, 3) switch the topic to something entirely…

Having worked in healthcare IT, can confirm that this is true about doctors. They always told me they knew the system better than me, but would make easy and obvious mistakes that even a child would know to avoid.

Lesson that everyone needs to learn: just because someone agrees with you and your platform on one thing doesn’t mean they agree with you and your platform on all things. Not everyone follows a tribalistic mentality.
