They’re completely relying on the average consumer assuming they mean high fructose corn syrup when they see the corn syrup and then assuming it’s being added after the fact, because the use of HFCS has been demonized.

There are definitely times and groups that have acted as gatekeepers throughout history, but let’s not forget that often its the masses themselves that reject curiosity and learning themselves.
