What is going on with the D-Back unis, though? Those are gross.

Be warned: It gets quite... grindcore-y at points. John Zorn does a lot of experimentation with metal and other genres, but specifically grindcore.

Bruce Coville’s Book of Ghosts had one of the sweetest supernatural stories that I’ve ever read, as an adult or a child. It was called “Not From Detroit” and it was about an old couple who were near death and how the man fought death to... well, you’ll just have to read it. It’s very touching.

His work with John Zorn at this concert is nothing short of mind-blowing. Love me some Marc Ribot.

I’m surprised that there aren’t more nihilists among the Cincinnati sports fan base. Cosmic horror is all you can feel when the Bengals do what they’ve done and the Reds get no-hit in a playoff sweep followed two years later by an epic meltdown against the Giants. As I said elsewhere yesterday, I knew that Rolen was

I wore my Bengals hat and tiger print Murphy’s Pub shirt out in Detroit yesterday in honor of this post. I’ll own my fandom for this crappy team.

Haha. I was 11-14 when I was there. I recognize all the initial locations you’ve mentioned, and none of the rest, so you know I was only there back in the day. My family used to live in the apartments of China Hotel and then the expat community of Golden Lake outside of the city, regardless we used to bowl all the

Re-reading this comment, I realize I lied. I lived in Guangzhou, China in the late 90s and there were WAY more horrifying bathrooms there. That said, NYC isn’t an industrial city, it’s one of the cultural capitals of the world.

I was just in NYC last and maybe it was the quality of places I hit when I go there, but the city must have the finest collection of horrifying bathrooms ever assembled. I went to a Venezuelan restaurant in the East Village and I swear there was a hellmouth in it from how amazingly hot it was (it was also tiny and

I just took vacation for a week in NYC and I’m more tired now than when I started. Mostly because I drank every single night and stayed out until bar close twice and I don’t think I spent more than $14 either night. It’s amazing what can happen if you make friends with people at dive bars.

Spoken like someone who lived through the most recent Cincinnati playoff appearances. The worst for me is the 2012 Reds, because they dropped three straight at home to the Giants. The Romo-Bruce duel and the subsequent Rolen strikeout to end the series are etched into my memory forever. Also, why couldn’t the Bengals

As a Detroit resident, I want this to happen. The Tigers are headed for a rebuild as-is and they’ll get a better return for Verlander now than if they wait.

Got together with some buddies this weekend and jammed out on some heavy stuff. Some of it sounded like Om. We were pretty proud of ourselves.

The fried foods list is missing the number three entry: fried pickles. I prefer Spears, but chips are also acceptable.

Leaving for a New York vacation tomorrow, but took today off as well, because why not?

God I love Converge. Seeing them tonight!
