Why would you want to smash those beautiful graphics into 4 tiny squares that now run at 30 FPS? This game is made for team play, not for 4 player deathmatch. It just wouldn’t work.
And even that difference makes it farther from MOBAs and closer to TF2. “Oh crap, they are at last point” leads to everyone switching to Heavy, Engineer, and Demo.
My personal favorite match is when Masahiro Sakurai (The creator and director of Smash Bros.) was doing a promotional thing, and somehow got into a sudden death in a stock match by killing himself and the other player at the same time. Link to the video.
