THIS is the kind of lighting technology that I’ve always wanted.

How worthless. Cyclists don’t get “doored” because they didn’t see the door was open, it was because someone threw the door into them right as they rode by.
Volvo’s in the right headspace
It would be better if it used sensors and cameras to detect cyclists or other vehicles approaching to prevent the door from opening until they pass.
I'm relieved nobody has posted complaining that they want to door cyclists. I'm not sure how effective a blinking taillight will be when it's obscured by another car, putting a light in the mirror is more useful. Personally I just prepare to evade any occupied vehicle in a parking space.
Ya know how many cyclists I see riding while looking down? Just like pedestrians on their phone looking down. They won’t even see the light let alone the door that’s gonna close line them
Most drivers are oblivious to anything that’s not in front of their nose.
Do people who street park NOT look when opening their door street side? Like seriously and I am not even doing it to look for someone on a bike I am doing it to make sure a damn car doesn’t rip my door off.
Sorry but not getting the cyclist warning. If it comes in as the door opens will that really give a cyclist time to stop before getting doored? If the driver has to activate it won’t they be more likely to look before they open the door?
“This was a non-injury collision”
These things sold like hotcakes the first two years it was out.
Sugar cane is grown and harvested, so technically it is carbon neutral. If Brazilians run sugar cane cars instead of EV’s , I have no problem with that.
I like how you spend this entire article trying to blame the government, sugar lobby, and automakers for this, while burying the actual cause as a footnote at the very end
Last weekend my wife and I drove from Las Vegas (115°) to Valley of Fire (119°), to Zion National Park (110°) in our 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance. While we had the AC blasting the whole time, our need to stop and charge each direction didn’t really change, and we were able to Charge at the campsite. In the V8 Jeep…
I vaguely recall being a kid in the 90s and my dad had to run the heat in his pickup truck on really hot days because otherwise the engine would overheat!
What happens to ICEs at extremely high temps?
I think we’re going to have a much bigger issue of a lack of skilled laborers in these types of fields in the next 10 years. I suspect these fixes will also be band-aid solutions because .gov loves to spend money on things that are wants and nice to haves, rather than things we need...I’m guilty of this to, I’ll spendi…
Honestly I think it’s a terrible idea to put in a high-speed car wash where you have to drive through at 60mph, it just seems a little dangerous
