3rd gear... manufacturers are going to have to start paying more attention to aerodynamics (and hopefully weight as well) again to improve range on limited battery size.

yeah and it’s also worth adding that they’re comfortable from day-1/mile zero... to even after 25 years and 200k miles

front end looks fantastic, rear end would take some getting used to. that downward sweep on the rear windows looks a little off to me, but if they did that body work in the name of lower drag and greater efficiency, I’m all for it....

the consumer cried for more range... this is how we’re gonna get it.

front end looks fantastic, but I’m still a little torn on how to feel about that rear end... but for that drag coefficient, im open to anything... function over fashion. we need more cars with better efficiency.

honestly wouldnt mind a car with a range of 150 miles if it’s under $18k too.

mirrors actually arent a small amount of energy. they’re about 5% of your overall drag. that can easily be the difference between 285 and 300 miles per charge... everybody wants more range... this is part of the solution.

mirrors make up easily 5% of overall drag... that percentage number is even greater when the entire rest of the car has a lower drag coefficient... may seem trivial but it’s easily the difference between 285 and 300...

90's and newer Volvo. hands down...

it cant tow a boat either... it’s useless. nobody should buy a car that cant tow a boat and fit a family of 9.

7.4 miles/kwh.... that’s very impressive.

for revision 2.0 have you considered tying a weight to a string off the bottom of your steering wheel? it will allow the wheel to turn with the banking of the road.

you missed 90% of the history on these things...

yeah ive been watching their stock. but if i had to guess that cash is going in to the costs of opening the production lines of the 3, 5, and the 4 theyre launching next year.

I’d be surprised if the 5 weren’t quicker. its packing a ton of power, and also going to 800v - newer system. the polestar 2 is still on a 400v system. from a quick quick glance, it looks that an AWD polestar 2 and GT are almost the same price, with the polestar being a couple grand less.

not quite. it was... but they have since spun it off as a separate company. 49% owned by volvo

I’d agree with you that PHEV definitely has its place. Especially in a larger like trucks where they’re towing, and it trashes the efficiency, so they pack massive batteries which further trashes the efficiency.

im sure theyve come a long way. i generally trust the car to stay in the lane, except when others try to merge right in front of me. just yesterday, I just let the car drive itself up california Highway 17 that connects los gatos and santa cruz... it did it almost flawlessly. still kept my fingers on the wheel ready

nope. fully loaded. we bought a brand new 2020 ioniq limited EV on closeout in Feb 2021. after all the rebates, our lease is $700 down and $150/month, for 3 years, and our buyout is right around $17k.

sure, realistically the planet doesnt “need” another 6-figure car... but i get why polestar is doing it.
