I remember being six years old and watching the Enterprise-D crash land at the movie theater. I absolutely loved TNG and felt that loss. Seeing the ship come alive again last week was absolutely stunning—one of my favorite TV moments of the last few years. It made me feel like I was six again.

Spent 10 days in Florida total in my life. Something notably weird happened each day.

Even the best episodes of past Star Treks had bad logic, plot holes, and terrible characterization. They just have 20-60 years of goodwill built up to mask them.

Logic? Logic? My God, the man’s talking about logic; we’re talking about universal armageddon.

I thought the reveal of how Jack and Picard’s previous encounter on Earth lead to Jack not wanting to connect with him was very well done. It was very believable how Picard could say something incredibly hurtful without even knowing he did it.

In this episode, David is 100% supposed to be the embodiment of all evil. He is, quite literally, a representation of the Devil. He comes at Ellie as a friend, tries to tempt her (3 times, no less), and then when he is rebuked, he attempts to hurt and violate her in every way possible.

A trope, as you’re using it, is

• Fairly slow start, but also intense. Watching Ellie take care of Joel, spoon water into his mouth, leave him food… ugh, it was so heartbreaking. Her sleeping next to him while he moved his head against hers gave me a lump.

Not tropey but full on real life. Many cult leaders have been pedophiles grooming the children — without even a post-apocalyptic scenario or cannibalism. Your comment is a little like “why did they make the sky blue?; I’ve seen this before; too tropey”

If a office has enough space for a coffee maker, they usually also have a microwave. It may not be the best of one ether but even the worst microwaves can heat up water to the point that it can ‘cook’ the noodles.

Did you see the video Kyle? This would be a *super* sophisticated fake. How would he have mocked up the headset, controllers, and packaging? It’s real.

It’s my pleasure. I’m a geologist turned journalist so I wouldn’t dare forget my roots!

Dude, I went down that rabbit hole back in the late ‘80s, and believed all kinds of folks who said that the government was covering up aliens, that they were slowly dribbling things out to prepare us for the day when they revealed all.

Yeah, if Putin had that kind of advanced technology, he wouldn’t be losing in Ukraine.

“It’s just a Civic . . blah, blah, blah . . . new nose . . . blah, blah, blah . . . not different enough . . . blah, blah . . . huge letters on the side . . . . “

The brilliance of the original Integra was that it absolutely WAS a tarted up Civic. It just looked much better and was tuned for a slightly higher level of performance/handling at a modest price point.

This looks absolutely horrendous, and only an idiot who likes simplistic bullshit plots that are over the top would pay money to watch this heaping ball of garbage.

What about ice??? Am I supposed to do that part myself?

Can’t agree that it’s ‘by far’ the best. I’ve always put it on equal footing with the first, they couldn’t be more different though. I’m never equally in the mood to watch both if you know what I mean.

Aliens is on my list of best movies ever made.

I wonder who we could be talking about...?
