I took my family up to the top of Mt. Haleakala on Maui to watch the sunset. We planned for it by packing a set of clothes & jackets warm enough to go to Tahoe in winter along with our shorts and t-shirts for the trip to Hawaii. We needed every bit of that extra clothing - it was freezing up there, in the middle of

This isn’t anything new with Musk’s companies. Everything they do is bleeding edge and solving multiple crises is just part of the game. A lot of what he says, especially the overly optimistic deadlines that then get pushed out, are mostly to motivate employees. This is no different. I’m not trying to justify

I hear what you’re saying but at the same time I am sympathetic to those who still dismiss it. It’s a HUGE pill to swallow, and it’s impossible to know at this point how to react to this disclosure. I accept the recent government disclosures as truthful but I have no idea what to make of it. We’ve been told nothing

You echoed exactly what I was thinking. I’ve been dumbfounded by just how often over the past several weeks I’ve seen the polishing cloth mentioned in news articles. I thought it would get a few laughs then fade into obscurity. But instead it’s taken on a life of its own. And it’s selling like hotcakes apparently.

This polishing cloth is getting way too much attention. I see it coming up in every story about Apple in the last few days.

Any third party app compatibility issues cropping up so far? Eventually my company will need to decide whether to upgrade, but we will first be testing how compatible the apps we use are with the OS.

I’ve been using it for a while while watching movies on Apple TV+ and Netflix. It’s a striking effect that’s very cool, but I agree I’m not always sure I want it on when listening to music that does not involve staring at a screen. One funny aspect of it is that it confuses my brain when I first start a TV show. It

Figures.

I know what you mean. I visit Santa Cruz at least a few times a year and live a few hours drive away. I’ve seen some crazy large homeless encampments and a decent share of nutcases walking around. The growing homeless issue is really a state-wide problem that’s getting out of hand.

I wonder what happened here. They could have played any games with the numbers they wanted. That’s what i thought they would do.

I’m intrigued but skeptical at the same time. I would feel a little better about it if they committed to filming it in Santa Cruz again. I always think about that movie when we travel there. But Santa Cruz is not nearly as gritty as it was in the 80's and that might ruin the vibe.

I was there with my family at the beginning of August and said the same thing shortly after having visited the tree.

I just watched the live broadcast that completed a few minutes ago. They all seem to be having a blast and keeping busy with science and other tasks.

Does this pricing include the cost of removing the roof of your house to get it inside?

Very glad to see this. I’ve read a number of articles explaining that most cities spend a lot of money hand-sorting the contents of recycle bins to remove all the items that aren’t practical or cost-effective to recycle. It’s a long list and includes many items with that symbol on it. Because of this, residents are

Obscenely rich and powerful people having public pissing matches... never gets old. I just put a bag of popcorn in the microwave.

I wonder how they will portray the city in this movie. I know it was mostly filmed in San Francisco this time. I can see recognizable buildings in the slideshow, including Salesforce Tower and the Bank of America building, and even the bay. I assumed they would shoot it in such a way that it’s not recognizable,

It has gotten a ton better over the last couple of years, at least in the US. I use it almost exclusively now. Directions and traffic are very accurate, and looking up businesses works very well. About the only time I use Google Maps now is if I need to download offline maps.

This is silly guys. It’s a TV show prop. They very easily could have overlaid the display with an image in post production and not bothered to recreate the notch. Surely that’s what we’re looking at here.

I agree. Right now it seems like socializing without fear like we used to in 2019 is maybe years away, and all the while we have to worry about catching COVID even from going to the grocery store and maybe not going to the hospital because we’re vaccinated, but ending up with long COVID symptoms. That is seriously depr
