Holy hell... You chose the highway, in the snow, while passing a big rig, to shoot this video. Very ballsy. Elon Must might be ordering his software engineers to code a “patty-cake detection algorithm” in the next software release just to prevent this sort of thing.

I’m pretty sure what’s happening here is that he’s maxing out media attention on Tesla’s car business while in the background he's working hard on Tesla's real objective: to become a massively successful battery business.

The wee four banger under the hood wasn't enough to balance out the weight of the full tank of gas in the back.

I have to say, I’m stunned by this massive surge of auto industry (and Silicon Valley) interest in autonomous cars.

I love driving a sports car on a windy mountain road on a Saturday morning.

I disagree. “The other” is a battery, an electric motor, and a computer. Doesn’t get much simpler than that.

Well, with a Tesla, you swap out the electric motors and you’re done.

This is one of the things that amazes me most about this car. It’s so many orders of magnitude simpler than a typical ICE vehicle.

That’s beyond impressive. These guys are all-in big time. They are thinking ten to twenty years down the road. Anyone who discounts Musk is going to regret it later.

Agreed. After I updated, it felt like I upgraded to a new console.

Good point. While someone may prefer one system over the other, what your friends play makes a big impact on the decision.

Agreed. Microsoft has reinvented themselves and is making great progress. Sony is still all over the place.

How many average gamers is the PC market really grabbing? Seems like the pool of truly hardcore gamers is small and probably hasn’t grown much over the years. Those guys have been on PCs from the start. Your average, more casual gamer (like me) doesn’t want to mess with costly gaming PCs and frequent graphics card

Well one thing is for sure. The momentum to change the automobile into something way more advanced and way different than today’s typical ICE car is definitely underway and accelerating fast. The next decade is going to be really interesting.

Apple would not buy Tesla for the simple reason that they (particularly their leaders like Jony Ive) want deep down to do this entirely their own way. They didn’t buy a smartphone company to enter that business, and they aren’t going to buy a car maker to enter the car business. They keep top talent by embarking on

This is a really good thing, and LA should be at the forefront because it sucks balls to drive there. Public transpo has long been cited as the solution, but it will never reach critical mass because rail is too damn expensive, buses must deal with traffic like other vehicles, and people want their independence. So

The only purpose of Black Friday is to show the rest of the world how ridiculous and materialistic the USA can be. I hate it. It’s embarrassing.

If it were September I’d say no. Now, it’s been patched enough that the answer is probably yes. But do a full backup and image first. Never know what legacy stuff in your current install would glitch out the upgrade.

I saw videos from LA of the second stage lighting up. Could this have been so high up that it looked the same in both cities? Or might we have been dealing with multiple firings, or more than two stages?

What did they do, have a couple of high schoolers code the 360 version in their free time?
