Interesting conversation. But why do you think it impossible to use higher quality assets in the switch version? In theory, I don’t imagine it’s hard to swap out models for higher quality ones if they planned ahead for it when making the game on 3DS (which, knowing Nintendo, I’m sure they did). Same goes for lighting

Isn’ it actually very possible to get shiny legendaries? At least in the case of Mewtwo, my bud soft restarted the game about 3000 times to make it so that RNG would make mewtwo shiny during the fight before catching it.

Haha, thank you for being much more eloquent and clear than I! It is an interesting subject matter to dissect, this post was good to read.

Yup, it’s my misunderstanding for bringing variables into the mix, and I don’t dispute your knowledge in sociology or real-life human behavior. But I stand by my point, where this game does not seek to recreate real life but a superficial simulation. When it comes down to it, the end result is what matters, and

I can’t testify as to Sylvester’s personal beliefs (and I have not played the game), but as a newbie programmer I do agree with him on the defense of his code: the name of variables (the objects that hold numbers and values in code, that in this case decide the sexuality of a character in the game) mean very little in

Huge Undertale fan here. Just got my Papyrus figure in the mail yesterday.

Maybe if they asked the fire to pretty please slow down, they wouldn’t need to rush?

In my mind this is the exact direction sonic should have always headed: an open giant playground for running and pulling off stunts while fighting baddies and collecting goodies. He was always a his best when he was trailing behind the plumber’s footsteps. If Sega keeps it up like they did with Sonic Mania, perhaps

Cecilia, I must disagree. True in some games it’s never even necessary, but in games like Pokemon the bottom screen really frees up what would otherwise be a very crammed top screen during pokemon battles, allowing you to easily select attacks. The bottom touch screen also works great on in-game menus with several

You know, this reminds me of a 2D animator colleague who lives and works in Japan, and which Kotaku has previously reported on. He is American and he has worked on several high-profile Japanese productions. By the logic of these moderators, any shot that he has touched dilutes the animeness of the episodes he worked

Couldn’t have been more on the nose.

I think this is a subtle behavior that we are slowly changing with increasing awareness. With any luck and effort, I believe a lot of these behaviors will hopefully be phased out within a decade, especially as gaming becomes a more inclusive mainstream activity for broader audiences. But I guess only time will tell.

Thank goodness

Hey Heather! Once you’re done with the single player campaign, how about a comparative piece between this game and Spec Ops: The Line?

I find this really depressing. All the more power to the artist if he enjoys it. But god does it depress the crap out of me.

This may come as a shock to you, but ignoring an issue seldom solves it. Yes there will always be idiots on the internet, but if we don’t call attention to the fact that they are idiots, they will definitely never change. That kid from the article is wise when he says that he doesn’t expect change to happen even over

I agree stupidly harsh punishments are not necessary, but I think we’re still in a weird transitional period where there’s a disconnect between the severity of trolly cybercrimes and the criminals committing them who view it as humorous or relatively innocuous. There absolutely have to be severe repercussions so that

Wasting 10 minutes of a several hundred thousand’s people’s time accumulates to a lot of lost time. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

Poplio hater here. When I saw his evolution, I actually thought “oh. That’s kind of cute”. I think for me, this bumps up the cute water cake seal over the generic fire cat, who’s first form seemed ok, but his evolution looks kinda bland. Excited to see the final form designs.

You know what’ll be the real kicker? This game will probably end with a cliffhanger, and despite it’s cult following, it will sell poorly. And we will be left waiting for another couple of decades for a sequel that may or may not end on a cliffhanger.
