One of my first dates with my husband, who lived in my dorm during my undergrad days, was going to his roommate’s orchestra concert. During the concert’s intermission, one of the orchestra’s members proposed to his girlfriend on stage in a big fanfare. They both were about 19, and according to orchestra gossip that we

For me it was 31. I had just seperated from my S.O., and had moved halfway around the world for work. The morning of my 31st birthday, bleary and hungover, I discovered a long, pointy white hair growing out from under my chin.

Wow, I would have loved that! I moved to Baltimore a little less than a year ago.

My maternal grandfather (and many other family members) worked all their life in the Ford factories, and it was definetly a big deal for her when my parents finally bought a Nissan minivan in the 90’s, even though her father had been dead for many years.

Oooh pretty! Here are mine!

This whole ‘likeability’ thing is sexist B.S., but I’m really concerned that Hillary’s going to get the nomination and blow it. I haven’t met one person IRL that’s actually excited to vote for her. Most people I know (mostly moderate dems!) are of the “I hold my nose and vote for her” or “I like Sanders more, but

Not sure what your getting at exactly, but I guess I should specify last major American city. (Maybe not so major now, but at one point it was!)

Oh, as a fairly new Baltimore resident, believe me, I know!

Fun fact: Balimore was the last American city to have a working sewer system. They finally got around to building it in 1905 when a huge fire destoyed a big part of the city. The first treatment plant wasn’t operational until 1915. People still had cesspools well into the 1920s!

Congratulations on quitting!

Thank you for being considerate! There are probably people who are thankful for this, but can’t tell you.

Yeah I wonder about that too,

The part about rationalizing problem drinking is pretty spot-on.

I would maybe consider watching this movie if it included Kathleen Turner in some way.

Whoa I did not hear about Garrison Kiellor sexually harrassing people??? I just always hated him because he was annoying as fuck.

David Brooks (of the NYT) basically wrote a whole op-ed with that thesis. I’m with you- American media is the worst.

I’m not that old (33), and even I can see how the media has creeped right just within the last 15 years.

It’s annoying because she has a pleasant enough voice, but not it’s something anyone would ever be able to make a career off of if they weren’t already famous. Just like as a cook, she’s probably a good enough home cook, but plenty of plebes could probably out-cook her in a second. I think that’s part of why she bugs

You sound like someone who could publish one hell of a memoir someday. Damn!

It’s a great book!
