There's so much stuff in Mass Effect 2 that requires knowledge of events and people from the first game. Strange choice if they just skip straight to to 2.

Lucasarts is obviously going back to its roots and makin gonly SCUMM based adventure games from this point on. Monkey Island remakes were just practice. ;)
