Sera gave us the most genuine post-Kripke season. The writing was smart, heartfelt and funny. Everything since is almost a parody of what people think of the show.

Season six had a lot going on, sure, but it really felt like it was building towards something while season eight meandered for half its run before introducing the Trials arc that itself went nowhere.

I feel like season seven was the last that had truly good monster-of-the-week episodes. It also handled Dick Roman very well, even if the Leviathans as a whole were executed poorly.

Watch season six. It has some of the best episodes of the entire series, introduced elements to the mythology that work and had a lot of great potential. It's only after it that I would quit watching.
