My parents have one just like this in dark blue.... I actually really like it, smooth riding, quieter than my '96 A6, not governed (I've got it over 130), stone cold reliability, comfortable seats. It is a little low on power, but for a mid-size family sedan, I found it to be sufficient.

I wouldn't take these down the interstate, then again, a good road trip to me is about enjoying the sites, curvy back roads, and small towns that the interstate slices right by.

Not exactly, power is the measure of (work/time), work = force*distance, torque is force, in automotive applications in the USA, we define power as horsepower, and torque as ft*lbs. Since engines spin, we use torque and rpm, instead of force*distance.

Thus, HP = torque * rpm / 5252

Torque is rather irrelevant in terms of accleration. Power is the measure of work getting done, such as accelerating a mass at a certain rate. Torque could be incredibly high, but it doesn't do a lick of good with out power.
