It wasn’t really that kiddy when Robin was introduced. It still had some pretty dark episodes like the zombie one, the time rewind episode, and the episode that homaged TDKR. People just think it’s kiddier because Robin and Batgirl where in those episodes.

The DCAU was great but the way fans act like it is the only adaptation to get these characters right is kind of obnoxious. It wasn’t just this show that dealt with it. Teen Titans, Young Justice and Brave & The Bold got flack just for not being the DCAU.
