As much as I like to shit on G/O for sloppy work, this appears to be coming from Wisconsin’s DHS:

I suspect that the CDC may not release that information until they’ve finished their investigation but I’m surprised that it hasn’t leaked out through other channels. I saw another commenter point out that they had read that these were THC pods so it’s possible sources are keeping silent out of legal concerns. 

I only wish that it was clear whether the sick people were buying commercially prepared pods/liquid or something produced in a shadier environment.

Yeah, i definitely agree that some of the literary jokes and word games are a little cheesy 50 years later.
