seriously. its like a sizable portion of the commenters missed that this was a full month before her due date.

Came for this. Was not disappointed.

This confirms my suspicion that white parents who live in Park Slope are the fucking worst.

Damn, you guys are even more prickish and insufferable than Splinter’s own staff. Kudos, that’s genuinely impressive.

so the studied men are drawn to women at their most youthful and patriarchally attractive and the women were drawn to men when their earning potential is rising and peaking, fulfilling another aspect of patriarchy. yay humans!

Sorry for the belated response! Thanks for humoring me. You’re totally right about me suggesting a strawman. I guess i was thinking bigger picture than intelligence and projecting arguments that were not being made. Your point about IQ being total arbitrary is spot on and that’s pretty much when i saw that i was not

I love Lifehacker articles about interpersonal communication because they bring out all the neurotic, maladjusted weirdos in the comments. Ah, my people.

Perhaps more people of color were skeptical of letting a random white stranger take their photo and publish their story?

okay, this was much snarkier than i meant and i’m too late to edit. I just don’t get the rhetorical grandstanding—like i think her tweets were dumb because generalizing about whole groups of people is dickish. No, white people aren’t hurt by it but its still kind of a dick move.

I truly don’t understand why the possibility of genetic differences between groups of people gives the left an aneurism.I get why it gets the right all worked up—because it could be distorted and serve as a justification for racism and prejudice—and that should never be accepted. But to state that we 100% know that

Oh, good. We’re still pretending that there’s no difference between interpersonal and systemic racism. Continue to jack that dick!

Legend foretold of a man with takes so bad he would unite the Gawkerverse. Fools believed it was HamNo, the insane thought Daulerio but the visionaries whispered only one word: Burneko.

I’m glad she’s got such a loving advocate ready to help her. I have faith that you’ll help her get through the bad years and come out the other side.

That’s so sad. I’m sorry she’s been hit with such damaging messages from so many sources and that there isn’t a simple fix.

Ohh absolutely. I guess my particular issue with social media is how intimate it can feel and how much content is out there. You’re right, there was never a time without an ideal construct.

I hope your rough patch ends soon! And, yeah, when I’ve been stuck in a bad place, stepping back from social media really seemed to help.

Yikes. That makes me so uncomfortable.

We’re around the same age, then. For me—and i def should’ve made this clearer—the big difference is that internet didn’t feel like “real life” at the time. Yeah, social media was starting and the internet was becoming more fundamental but it still felt like a separate thing from my day-to-day life.

I know a comment like this pops up on every Insta/social media story but, damn, I am happy that I grew up before smartphones and social media.

I don’t think you know many working reporters.
