I somehow feel like this is more related to Trump than to the State of the Union.

So this is going to be three assholes intentionally finding the most hyperventilating, over-the-top college students and ragging on them for an hour and a half?

Activists are just lobbyists with moral high ground.

Finally! A way for stoners...er...enthusiasts to be sanctimonious pricks in a way that doesn’t piss me off. Thanks, corporate rebranding, occasionally you come with a side of racial sensitivity (because its profitable.)

oh, this deal is bipartisan? it must be literal nazism because compromise is for the weak /s(plinter)

I’m glad she finds time to complain about salads in between pretending she doesn’t know that queer can be a slur and taking potshots at asian people.

if i recall correctly, the headless cat is visible on the floor for the rest of the scene.

Exactly! I can’t bring myself to care much whether Prince Kennedy delivers the speech or some rising star that would engage the activist left (i’m not sure there’s any one person who can do that well) because the speech is a bad idea. It might be for the best to let a bland, forgettable speaker take this one and

I think identity matters more than the Democratic Party thinks it does and less than this website does. Kennedy is a fine, if bland, choice. I can’t really work up too much smarm or annoyance here. He’s delivering a speech that probably shouldn’t happen at all.

2/10. Try harder next time.

don’t worry, there’s a post coming about how problematic she is

This fills me with an unreasonable amount of joy. I am 100% for White Moose Cafe’s surliness. I am a curmudgeon though who thinks that social media only rewards the dumbest among us. And that Youtube ‘celebrities’ are narcissistic fuckwits.

the revolution never seems to trickle down, does it? Growing up pretty poor and ending up in a more middle & upper class industry (magazine journalism) has really shown how few of the advancements of our social movements make it to the very poor.

Yeah. I hope the Dems manage to get a deal that keeps the Dreamers in the U.S. But it looks, so far, like they are tackling problems in the order that they occur: DACA expires in March. CHIP no longer has funding and is set to run out in the next few days.

I did. But life is messy and if we cannot apologize and accept apologies in situations that are awkward but ultimately meaningless (like gesturing and saying, “hey, wanna sit?”: “sure, thanks”/ “no, thanks”: *gets up*/“okay, sorry.”) then i don’t know how we can navigate more fraught situations.

Also, this article apparently brought out the MRAs. I’m learning so much about the needs of Lifehacker’s readers.

I am unreasonably annoyed that this jawn only mentions Philly in the context of the cheesesteak.

Ah, yeah. That was terrible reading on my part. I got a little excited. It’s been a few years since I left Philly but I really miss it—especially Fergie’s. I used to work at the liquor store a block over. Fergie and Wajih were always so nice when we’d stop by.

I was about to unleash a stream of profanity but realized that definitely proves your point.
