Yeah OLED is much better because no backlighting is necessary, but I’ve done side by side comparisons of zones on or off on the same model of LCD TV and it looks better with the zones on than off.

That makes no sense. With zoning off you have one zone for the entire backlight. Multiple zones increase contrast.
