@JimmyBanks6: That link contains source code. First off, you don't install source code. Secondly, you don't need a specific computer to compile any of that source.

The ironic thing is, none of the fanboys' most beloved high-end Android devices use the stock, free software Android OS. Most of 'em are just as proprietary as iOS is, when you take stuff like HTC Sense or MotoBlur into account.

@Worf: Doubt it would help. If piracy exploded, it would just kill Android development, and hurt Android quite badly as a platform. Although it's over-used by software companies, the old 'piracy harms developers' line does hold true when it's on a big enough scale.

You'll be liveblogging? As in, Gizmodo will be at an Apple event?

@(Splat): Truth is, it's actually just a backlit panel and an acetate sheet with free pastel-color iPens.

A few surprises? It's gotta be one of these:

@Lexen: I was Mex: I don't know if Apple are going to introduce a touch-based Mac, and I kind of doubt it. It seems silly, but I could easily be proven wrong some day.

I know AT&T aren't a great network, but why is this Verizon (as in the general 'Verizon iDevice' hoopla) thing such a big deal?

@Mekkakat: You make a fair point in places, but I don't think you have those figures right.

@cynep: Don't make yourself so obvious next time.

Why did I think this was something to do with Steve Jobs at first?

@Wheema: Are you one of those people that doesn't want a tablet, but wants to buy an Android tablet just.. because you can?

@Salacion: He doesn't sound like a failure, although what he does is pretty unusual. But who cares? You've never done it, I've never done it, and probably wouldn't like this life much if I did live it. He'd probably say the same about your life, or my life.

@MazdaMania: I'm thinking that they wanted to cash-in on Apple's "look how magical!" marketing, but without actually using the M word.

@pattycakes05: Even if the deal was signed on the first day of 2006, it would still have to run to the first day of 2011 to make it five years. 2006 + 5 = 2011, no matter what way you twist it.

@RemembertheAmiga: There isn't any phone in existence that has a True HD display. The iPhone 4, which has the highest pixel count, isn't even close.

@cbstryker: I can see why people want to use Android on the grounds of principle, and hell, there are a lot of great Android phones out there now.

@gthing: Silly comparison. You can't really compare the two directly like that - Apple are a hardware company first, whereas Android is market as piece of software.
