They say that smell is the most evocative sense with respect to memory.  I haven’t sat in one of these in 30 years and know it precisely.

Bought an ‘04 Buick Rendezvous with the optional 3.6 motor, new. Had to replace the trans out of warranty at 57k. Fast fwd. 6 years and at 133k the timing chain went. We were hoping that that would be the car the kids leaned on but no dice (PS rack was leaking, speedometer didn’t work, sunroof didn’t work, so scrapped)…

3rd Gear: Nah... Americans don’t want cheap new cars. Cheap cars to Americans are used cars. For American buyers who buy new, they mostly want something with all the bells and whistles and great performance. That’s why everyone wants a Tesla and why cheaper BEVs like the Leaf and Bolt aren’t nearly as sought after.

See, this is a reasonable use of rental cars for travel.

I deleted my Facebook account and have stopped speaking with a significant portion of my in-laws (at my wife’s reqeust for the latter).   It has been very freeing, especially dropping Facebook.   I didn’t realize just how much time I spent there and what a rage inducing nightmare it was/is.
