I drove a Tesla Model Y Performance for the first time this week. It was such a different and fun driving experience. I now get why all those fanboys don’t care too much about shoddy workmanship.

Reverse: My broken brain does this every time an El Camino mention is made:
Stop drinking so much dude. I turned 34 last week and it was the first time I hadn’t had alcohol on my birthday for years. After drinking too much after the lockdowns started I decided to stop for now and my life is so much better now. The booze just multiplies the misery that is 2020.
RE: 5th Gear:
Proof Tesla isn’t a real car company- diamler is up 4.5% after beating expectations by $1 billion? Imagine if Tesla did that...
Happy Birthday, Erik!

No the car didn’t break into pieces, it was ‘rapid unplanned disassembly’
“Thermal Event” is some top-grade bullshit lawyer talk.
Though this does have a manual, I agree with you - there are more interesting ways of spending $9k.
The transmission is also a torque converter automatic...
The denial is strong with the seller. Here’s an excerpt from the CL ad:
*Removes factory cold air intake
This is a tough one. The boy-racer changes, especially the turbo and exhaust, plus de-badging things, is a red flag. What else was done that he’s not admitting to and how much has it been flogged?
First, let me say wholeheartedly that you are correct. Most trucks never tow or go off-road. Most sports cars never go on a track. Most guitars hang on walls. Most sex swings stay in their packaging. Most gym memberships go unused.
There is always an exception to a rule or in this case casual observation. The majority of these trucks have never seen and will never see, those unique wide open spaces and used for what they may be capable of.
This is somehow the second Tremors reference I’ve seen on Jalopnik this week.
Jason, this big wonderful country of ours has some unique places where money, masculinity, wide open spaces and bad weather converge. My friend in Jackson Hole just bought a F-250 King Ranch. Within 48 hours of taking delivery, he had used it go hunting, transport the elk to the butcher and drive to Reno getting 18…
What if you USED to used all those features (or similar features on a Big Dumb Truck), but no longer do (for reasons), though the vehicle has been paid off for 13 years and a car payment is unappealing?
(Tremor edition, even, a name that always sounds a bit like a medical condition to me)
