I too love fruitcake ... Not only the light Panetone (which incidentally makes wonderful French Toast).. to the dark fuitcakes (add a Christmas Pud I’m in heaven)... In my youth I remember at weddings wandering round grabbing all the left over Wedding cake wrapped distributed and left by the guests .. mmm tea breaks

The interesting thing is the reference to the 7 kinds of fish .. notice a relationship to the seven sisters Italian feast on Christmas eve....

Just to throw another “wrench” in the works... There is a UK version of Pumpkin Spice/Five spice called (aptly enough) Mixed Spice. You’ll see it mentioned in Older UK cook books. I have used pumpkin spice as a substitute. I have a suspicion that it was originally based on a Garum Marsala recipe- but I could be wrong.

I am really just dipping my toes in the Apple world ... but an Interesting situation has cropped up with my Iphone SE... After a while the touch selection for the phone app stops responding (you know switching from voicemail to contacts to keypad ... ) Re booting brings back access. The latest upgrade restored(ish)

Purely anecdotal... Order of Mold free life :-

Yes and no ... cute movie ....

Dashi?

Imperial vs US ounces (Imperial is larger) ... Thus ml.. is more accurate (Imperial vs US pints and hence Gallons is another “Interesting” comparison).

In the UK at a retraining centre (think low level tech training) there was an individual who insisted on making the tea for everyone. Later on it was found he was poisoning them with various heavy metals and keeping notes on it. My Friend’s Father worked at the same centre - fortunately not in the same area.

My simple care procedure for my cast iron.. Wash out using (shock horror) soapy water & either a green scrubby or a metal scrub pad. Then on top of stove - heat on wipe the pan with a towel to dry .. wait a few then a spritz of PAN spary (Pam or other) wipe with paper towel the excess .. few more minutes on the heat

I live in the town whose Franchisee actually invented the Blizzard ... sadly the DQ burnt down and has now been replaced by a Bar. The old great rivals for DQ here were Country Style (who make a “richer” soft cone).

No it is a painting there was no image when they tried to photograph them...

My Wife works at a local Not for Profit. It annoys her when funding sources only pay for programs (and they penalise those who try to Fudge figures to include overhead). It takes money to keep the lights on, buy photocopier paper, Pay salaries. She has a MBA in non profit admin - If she worked at for profit her salary

I have found a big “dollop” of sour cream mixed in just before serving really enhances the can of Baked beans ... especially with BBQ.

Eons ago .. I was taught that you poured a little Worcestershire sauce into the glass. Swirl it around to coat the inside of the glass then add the rest of the ingredients ... But then again that is what I was taught. I also like to keep my gin in the freezer - I feel it intensifies the flavours of the gin without

DentaClean .. denture cleaning tablets .. Pour in hot water drop in half a tablet leave over night ... voila Minty fresh clean. rinse couple times Minty smell disappears ... You can also use this for cleaning stainless steel drink mugs (bleach will eat those away).

Add a “dollop” of Horseradish sauce - compliments the pepperyness of the cabbage...
