They played the wrong accompaniment. She was expecting to lip sync the whole thing but on “Emotions” they played a backing track that was for semi-lip-sync situations, in which she sings most of the song but lip syncs the high notes. She was not about to attempt actually singing that song.
I would agree except she really did herself no favors acting like a classless asshole in the run-up to her match with Holm. I was really drawn in by all the hype about two bad ass ladies ready to battle, but Rousey’s behavior at the weigh-in killed my ambivalence. Sportsmanship (sportspersonship?) matters.
The icing on the cake is that Nunes said she knew the fight would go that way, because she heard that Ronda and her trainer felt Ronda’s striking was better than Nunes.
Since Ronda’s striking is abysmal, I guess that helped Nunes and her trainer figure out their fight strategy pretty easily.
This scenario reminds me a lot of young kids and sports. You get the 8 and 9 year old who are bigger and faster. They have an older brother or sister so they play the sport more often and have sharper skills. They get on the field and kick everyone’s ass and look like superstars. Then they get to 12/13/14 years old…
She has surrounded herself with yes men and sycophants. Her mother even told her this, publically.
Her Hollywood career is is on life support. She’s not a good actress and isn’t a nice person. A lot of her marketability was tied up in being an unstoppable wrecking machine, but that aura has been shattered.
Exactly my feelings. That’s not even taking anything away from her. She was the queen of the first generation female fighters. And they all weren’t very good. She needed to evolve, and she didn’t. Just before the fight started I asked myself, if she was gonna have a better game plan than her last fight. Within 5…
She was distractingly bad in a Fast and Furious movie. That takes some serious lack of talent.
No no, she’s really bad.
You seem to know a bit about her, so honest question.
Tyson was actually a skilled fighter though. He beat a lot of good boxers in his prime and was a fearsome champ. Loosing his trainer cost him big time, and going to jail didn’t help either. But he was a real legit fighter.
Thank you. I thought I had been alone these past few years.
Look I don’t want this to seem like I am attacking you, but I think that the Tiger Woods comparison is really not very good. He is not who he was. Probably the competition got better, but his decline is more about injuries and age than the competition. At his best he would compete with (dominate?) anybody out there…
The Holm fight illustrated that her stand up boxing skills were severely lacking, and she obviously did nothing to address that fact before this fight.
Many people in WBW are more well rounded and are becoming more and more talented at striking. Striking has always been her biggest weakness, she got away with what she’s done because her opponents got too close and let her use her judo skills on them. Once it’s on the ground, she’s the dominant one and probably would…
You have to think she never entirely recovered from her last defeat. It was the first time she had her face rearranged, I think, and she vanished from public view for months while she recovered. She looked rattled from the first good punch tonight. Among other signs — when Nunes faked a jab and Rousey flinched…
Yeah, all the people who talk about her bright future outside of MMA seem to forget she’s just not very likable as a person. Being the unstoppable force in the octagon was her sole selling point and now that’s just irreversibly gone with a second loss even more crushing than the first. I don’t think she could pull a…
I hate myself for starring this, but I laughed.
This fight was barely even long enough to masturbate to. 4/10.
