The castles and the [stolen] art and jewels would still be there, and they can do performance art “historic recreations” pieces for the various bits of ceremonial flummery. They wouldn’t lose anything, the state simply seizes whatever the crown says it should own instead of the state.

I’d say it’s more of an issue when it’s actors/directors weighing in, for two reasons:

All I ever use them for is to scraping them for books/movies/music blindspots that I should check out. My personal hit rate is about the same as just grabbing whatever looks interesting, but I probably experience a wider variety of things, which is nice.  Getting emotionally invested in them is madness.

But she doesn’t name any names here, just like she’s never said who “You Oughta Know” is about. (It’s not about Dave Coulier. She will say that much.)

I was curious too: BW had a 79% drop, according to Box Office Mojo, Shang Chi: 67%; Friday to Friday.

I think the pirating numbers are probably a factor too. Black Widow was immediately and widely pirated. Shang-Chi is not. I think they’re seeing those numbers as another factor undercutting their box office.

I think it’s the big 2nd/3rd weekend drops and D+ Premiere Access creates, no repeat watches. And maybe another star/director will get snippy and sue them. But I do think if they stacked the piles of money ontop of each other with Black Widow vs. Shang-Chi they would have probably made more with D+ premire access even…
