Denzel’s nomination sure is weird - seems like every review for that movie was basically “It’s the rare bad performance from Denzel Washington.”

Well, no. But I am suggesting that a moderately competent lawyer could fool the jury into believing that he’s not a moron.
Barry can’t reveal his secret identity to the six people who don’t already know it!
“Mr. Allen is an expert in crime scene forensics. He knows how to manipulate that type of evidence. That’s why when he committed murder, he did so in his own apartment, in such a way that every single piece of evidence points to him, and him alone!”
Obie stomped him worse than I thought.
“Home is . . . run no more” from We3 makes something get in my eye.
I’ve not seen the Australian original, but the end of the American version was one of the darkest things I’ve seen on TV.
Speaking of examining propaganda, I thought Amazon’s Comrade Detective did a pretty excellent job of doing so.
There is no “whining” about propaganda in this column. Just acknowledgment of it (specifically that America makes propaganda too).
Sad to see this column go, as it’s the best one on the site. Pumped for Age of Heroes, though!
It’s weird that Mulder has gone from a guy who got his ass kicked more often than not to a Batman-level hand-to-hand combatant when he’s pushing 60. I guess he hit the PX-90 really hard.
I thought it was more that everyone saw Luke as they had least seen him than a deliberate “I’m gonna make myself look 10 years younger.”
That’s awesome Will!
But, Jedi totally do give up. Yoda got his ass handed to him by the Emperor (after having he and Kenobi split up for no reason whatsoever - they could have easily double-teamed the Emperor, then headed after Anakin), then ran away and hid in the swamp for two decades. Luke’s behavior is entirely in line with this.
NO! Don’t close this column! Go back and do the runner-ups or something.
Also, the Jedi were full of shit about their abilities, which could help with the “they’re fakes” narrative:
Yeah. I mean, there’s a giant cathedral in Washington DC too, but I still don’t believe in God. So MAYBE they could sorta explain that away. However, the government isn’t explicitly using the Catholic church’s connection to god to negotiate trade policy, either.
The Jedi certainly would’ve worked better conceptually as a loosely-knit group of wandering warrior-monks, rather than as a government-sponsored cult that negotiates tax policy.
Huh. I missed the Batman/Shadow series, and I’m a huge Shadow fan. The Shadow Strikes! DC series from the late 90s/early 00s (I think?) is an underappreciated gem.
