Articles like this are 100% why I love jalopnik. Complete nonsense from a technical perspective, but from a creative perspective it really makes me think how awesome that would be. My first thought was how terrible the gas mileage would be. Maybe it would be more like feet per gallon realistically. But then I realized

It wouldn’t even have to happen. Just a CHANCE of flurries in those areas would lead to some sort of apocalypse.

I feel like LeMons is the race series I really want to be a part of then!

I would have to imagine most cars used in a demolition derby would not make it more than 100 feet down an actual road lol. They only need to last a few minutes so making it reliable is completely unnecessary.

I REALLY need to go to a demolition derby. I used to love those as a kid but they don’t do them nearly as often anymore. That was the first automotive related event ive ever been to and helped spark my interest in all things mobile.

If someone told me I should buy something like a Camry, I think I would have an aneurism

That’s cheating. They should have to do the same challenge but with a classic Lincoln continental or something else big and boaty.

Well this starts getting into a different category. Like sports teams. You show up to a Yankee game at Yankee stadium wearing a Redsox jersey and you are going to get jumped lol.

Yeah, I think I agree that it would certainly be an inconvenience. But if there are enough restaurants located around every supercharger, then it would be less of an issue. I think the main difference is that everything HAS to be planned ahead of time. You could manage to limit inconveniences if you plan out the exact

Then you have a Chevy Volt

Of course it would not be the same convenience. But I could definitely see it being competitive at least with some compromises. The technology just isn’t mature enough to really be an exact replacement. But if it can be even 75% as good on a road trip, it would be acceptable.

Most ICE cars do not make it 500-600 miles on a tank. Typically you are lucky to get ~300 but it certainly could be less. And unless you can nascar style the gas station, 3 minutes is unreasonable. I think the point is that they need to stop and eat anyways. It is time that would be spent even if they were driving an

I have never really considered the “expense” of dealing with an unreliable car to be the issue. The issue is the “down time” when you do not get to drive the car when you want to or getting stranded someplace far away. Sure you don’t have to pay for any non-wear item repairs, but you still have to deal with not

agreed, that does make sense. I wouldn't worry about losing traction in light rain but yeah using cruise control in the rain is an unnecessary risk.

holy shit, this is nuts. Totally unbelievable really. But people tend to be honest on here usually, so this is pretty wild to actually happen.

Its really not that bad as long as you are on a pretty straight highway that isn’t subject to flooding. And this is assuming you have quality tires that are not going to suddenly loose traction. Obviously there is a level of rain where common sense says to not use it just because of visibility issues.

While not my fault, this is definitely the worst that my car has been messed up. You can find my post on Oppo for details on the wreck. But I have steadily been in the process of repairing it as well.

K cool. Yes what you said makes sense to me. Sorry.

For some reason this angle reminds me of the F4 phantom.

Haha yeah, I know that. But it should not be “rated” for 6 tons then. I am not trying to defend the damn trucker. I am trying to explain that the engineering behind this bridge is not very good. Those ratings are just like on elevators, there is a ridiculous safety factor behind it, meaning you multiply the rated
