Really? Have you looked at a new car in the past 5 years? Backup cameras, blind spot monitors, automatic cruise control, adaptive front lighting, side curtain airbags (since ‘98), crash avoidance automatic braking, etc. etc. All of which are more effective than “automatic” seatbelts that still required you to buckle…

You know what is even more annoying? If you have USAA insurance, one of the very few discounts you can get is if your car has automatic seat belts. Despite the fact that there hasn’t been a car built in 20 years with them. Do they give any discounts for modern safety equipment? No.
