It’s absolutely wild. $85 million is literally more than every Friday the 13th budget COMBINED. The movies don’t even do particularly well they just do well relative to their budgets. Freddy Vs. Jason is the highest budgeted Jason appearance and is the only movie in which he appears that made $100 million globally.

Brian Fuller got distracted by a new project and ignored the one he was currently working on. That does not seem like him AT ALL!

A Bryan Fuller project was cancelled? Color me surprised.

I can understand having a vision for American Gods or Star Trek that requires a larger budget, but Friday the 13th? Really?

Normally I’d go to bat for creators over producers, but Fuller going wildly over-budget and claiming creative differences before leaving or being fired from a show is about as predictable as the sun rising in the east at this point.

Every time I see these all these “lowest box office since whatever” pieces, they seem to always leave out what’s likely a big driver;

“...they make the world slightly more bearable.”
This is important. AI can make some of the ‘business’ of our lives run more smoothly and quickly, perhaps, but for some of us art (real art, I’m not going to argue about this) isn’t just entertainment or a diversion. There’s an element of the sacred and the sublime in

People being replaced by technology has been a huge issue for decades (centuries even if you want to pick hairs), but AI is replacing creatives , people who (and yes they make the world slightly more bearable),have up until now not been replaceable, so since its affecting people who write articles or make TV/movies ,

Yeah, I commented on the larger thread above, but I listened during the Amber Heard trial. It’s not shocking, but still disparaging to see the similarities and that nobody believes a woman of DV until she is dead (and even then the system might fail you like with Nicole).

They’re all so damn pretty.

‘I’d like a big, prestigious job that pays a lot,’ says freelancer.

The Rock only sees one color - not red, not blue, just green.

when voting blue is the only way to keep your reproductive rights you kinda dont have a choice

This sort of rhetoric, an empty platitude at the best of times, seems vaguely insane when Trump is on the ballot. “In the interest of national unity and peace, I refuse to tell you whether I prefer the moderate grandad or the perpetually aggrieved lunatic who made ‘vengeance against my enemies’ a cornerstone of his

He’s an actor, not a political analyst. He doesn’t have to endorse candidates and people really shouldn’t care if he does. But he also doesn’t have to loudly announce that he is staying out of it if that’s what he wants to do. If you don’t want to say anything, then just don’t say anything. Don’t announce that you

And like, that’s fine? He doesn’t have to endorse someone if he doesn’t want to I guess, but what really chaps me about it is how he really *thinks* he’s being a hero here. “My goal is to bring this country together.” Like fuck you, dude. What hubris to think you personally have the power to bring the country together

Way to stand for nothing but yourself. What a hero

“but what that caused was something that tears me up in my guts—which is division”

Agreed. I absolutely get why he is upset about being included when he asked not to be, but before I clicked I was worried that he would be implicated in some way, and every indication from everything I’ve ever read are that he’s a good dude and I thought that illusion would be smashed. But sounds like he just helped

I can understand wanting to distance himself from all of that but, honestly, his genuinely shocked reaction only made him look better. He doesn’t have anything to be upset about (other than the events that caused the documentary to exist at all)
