That's fair - there is some diversity in pop country but it isn't quite as wide a spectrum.

Agreed. But I do think that fairly often, the person declaring their hatred for country music is less concerned with the actual music and more eager to distance themselves from the cultural markers traditionally associated with country fans - rural life, socially conservative politics, support for the NRA, etc.
So much hatred for country music in these comments, it makes me sad. It seems like a lot of commenters feel REALLY strongly that it is somehow objectively inferior to other types of pop music, but the musical distinction between pop country mainstream top 40 is pretty thin (song structure and length are basically the…
TEAM WHEAT-AND-DAIRY.
I loved pacific rim too! I loved that even though there was really only 1 woman in the whole movie, she turned out to be bad ass AND didn't turn into a love interest for her male co-star - just a teammate.
oooh! i've been to many of these in the past two years:
we visited that place when we were planning! it is nice in there, but it's pretty expensive given that you're just renting a big empty room (no furniture or linens or anything). i want to say that they quoted a site fee close to $8k for a Sunday evening.
1. I am overwhelmed with the cuteness and handsome of the Beckham picture, What an absurdly attractive family.
Is Britney a "strong" singer the way Christina Aguilera is? No. But her voice is distinctive, which is a valuable asset in pop music.
Just chiming in to say that I, too love Armageddon, and cry like a baby every time Bruce Willis says goodbye to Liv Tyler (spoiler alert, I guess...whatevs the movie is like 15 years old).
not as completely bizarre as some of these other stories, but...
i just watched this movie all the way through for the first time in a few years, and:
omg that EYE MAKEUP. want it.
I don't know about this 'groomsmen get off scot free' thing - my husband is spending a lot of money to be in his friend's wedding this fall. New suit, weekend-long bachelor party in Atlantic City, not to mention 2 nights in a hotel for us for the weekend and a gift.
honestly, I didn't get it until I looked at the GIF at the top of this article. THOSE EYES. that said, probably still a bit emo for my taste...though a few soulful country songs could potentially change that.
I love sharing a bed with my husband, except he's like the only person in the world who switches sides of the bed (he says it helps his back to change it up). So basically as soon as I've gotten a side figured out, he switches on me and I have to readjust. Total weirdo, right?
I thought Morello's backstory was a great twist, and that the episode was riveting....but why describe it using words like "devastating" or "gut-wrenching"? Compared to many of the other inmates, I didn't find her situation particularly SAD, at least not in the 'victim of circumstance/patriarchy' sense. I don't like…
ugh, "no, because i love men." who is going around telling young girls that feminism = man-hating?
I don't watch GoT (I think I watched the pilot - didn't someone get decapitated?), but this discussion REALLY reminds me of the debate about the Wolf of Wall Street. One side argues that they're just telling it like it is, depicting the truth of the environment (which, in the case of GoT, is obviously made up to begin…
Picking songs for *all* of the 'official' dances is a surprisingly difficult project. Parent-child dances are vulnerable to lots of creepiness, and a lot of the songs couples consider 'romantic' for their first dance are actually not, if you listen at all to the lyrics past the chorus. Case in point: my husband and I…
