Hi fellow perma-gray!
Hi fellow perma-gray!
If by the time my 2020 primary rolls around the candidate I happen to see as most qualified happens to be a white man, I’ll vote for him. However, I’m not going to coddle swing state undecideds by specifically voting for a white man. Assuming the primary candidate list is similar to current speculation, there are a…
So what is your solution? Encourage Democrats to specifically pick a white male candidate in the primaries to coddle certain voter demographics? I always pick the candidate best suited for the job.
I care about the candidate best suited for the job, period. Sometimes I’m in agreement with the majority of Democrats during the primaries.
I like “brogressive” or “aggro-gressive.” The latter likes to launch personal attacks on anyone not 100% aligned with their views and preferred tactics. In addition to avoiding “identity politics,” brogressives usually have AG friends and when one of them picks a fight with you, the brogressive will say “now now BOTH…
If someone other than a white man is chosen during the primaries, the swing states will have to pull up their Big Kid Pants and get over their inherent racism and/or misogyny.
During my clinic escort days we used oversized umbrellas to shield patients.
I’m not hating on her, just observing general demographic shifts. I was trying to compare her diary with my life at that time and in addition to the significant income disparity (also accounting for inflation) I can confirm I did not spend weekends in the Hamptons, but I guess my social circle and lifestyle were…
Totally understandable, and I should have clarified that my comment was specific to certain cities. I definitely suspect what I see is more of a demographic shift.
I’m solid Gen X and completely understand the pressure (prob because I’ve always been an early digital adoper)! I do remember pre-social media pressure in other forms, but due to crippling student loans I devised hacks to be thrifty at home so I could appear as if I was living large while out. :D
I wish I could put perimenopause (and beyond) on hold for about 10 years so I can benefit from what will likely be an onslaught of first-person accounts at that time.
It’s weird because while you can easily overspend at WF, they do have certain good quality house-brand staples (such as olive oil, some bulk foods, coffee, etc.) that end up costing less than other stores.
Thank you for posting your friend’s story. It made me think of the scene in One of Us in which the subjects are celebrating dinner (Seder?) as they did before, but in the context of their new lives.
Just out of curiosity did you live in an older building? I’ve been wondering if they adhere to proper tenant service and maintenance as owners of new construction developments.
I know R29 and other similar publications (*cough cough*) are still less than interested in Gen X, but similar breakdowns of our own financial habits might be educational because our thrifty habits were baked-in during the 1980s-90s. I have no lack of empathy, because there’s enough overlap to have shared many issues…
Or “our offshore vendor is already backed up and we don’t want to supplement stateside engineers and QA.”
Do you ever hear these songs now and still anticipate the specific DJ segment (or related technical imperfections) that occurred during the song because it was imprinted in your brain after listening to the tainted version?
Haha now I want to see it!
I saw the trailer the other night and was very pleasantly surprised to see Neve Campbell in this role (as a surgeon to boot!). They could have easily cast a much younger, symmetrical-but-forgettable woman as is done in most other movies of this genre.
Even at my most superficial teenage phase my preference was maybe one inch taller (i.e. “the friendly size”).
