Let’s pretend the current (pre-Brexit) EU is a democratic republic and the countries are states. Exactly how much would they accomplish if they brought all their differences to the table along with third parties? It would be a mess.

Speaking of decades-old witch hunts, in 10-15 years I can’t wait to see how many newly-registered young’uns (claiming to ID as progressive) mention PizzaGate as a “concern” when hesitant to support the Democrats. And so the cycle continues...

She really is an asshole for many reasons.

Thank you. Occupy didn’t even use their momentum for voter registration, let alone Midterms which would have completely changed the course of Obama’s second term.

I first registered as a Green in the early ‘90s, then switched to Democrat because my vote had more mileage with them. I can understand the desire for third party voices at lower levels, but how would this be effective in a Presidential run? This country is far too polarized.

Consider why Democratic Presidential candidates have moved to the center: no one fucking shows up for Midterm elections. Quite simply, if those at the top see Republican majorities and supermajorities in Congress and at the state level, they assume people want more conservative leadership.

I agree that we have the right to be upset about MI’s actions, and also to ask for an itemized list of tasks/hours that justify the cost of filing alone. However, have you considered that there are good reasons Democrats as a whole aren’t pushing the recount rather than assuming they’re all apathetic or corrupt?

Well, vision is much easier than feasible execution if you don’t have a supermajority. If you want any chance of passing and properly implementing meaningful and sustainable change, you need a fighting chance without the opposition trying to undermine you even with a simple majority. When they constantly vacillate

I agree on your analysis and how conditions are more complicated than they seem. Ideally we’d all love 100% employment, but they still have major advantages with benefits they take for granted after de Gaulle (not unlike how even conservatives born after the New Deal are in favor of social security).

Yup. Look at France - they have the social safety net that progressive populists claim would “fix” the evil in people’s hearts, yet their primaries indicate so far they’re willing to go balls-out xenophobe.

At some point the white working classes do need to take personal responsibility and bootstrap their brains to come to terms with the fact that in order to get the nice things they want, they will need to get over their fear of “big government” (and to a lesser extent, place possible religious baggage aside). It’s as

Ha! To be fair though, lack of internet savvy has also taken hold of many millennials, particularly those on both the right and left who have a boner for mysticism and natural thingys. The leftys in particular were disappointing in their willingness to fall for old-timey right wing rumors, as well as a lack of context

Agreed. I’m now into my second cycle of what I’m familiar with as the more sinister iteration of “Reagan Democrats.” It’s time for a divorce.

I’ve looked through all the comments in this thread, and haven’t seen this mentioned: are the three thud sounds at 0:35 footsteps on stairs, or bodies hitting the entry way roof? Because even if it isn’t the latter, it sure the fuck sounds like it.

Me too (docs always laugh because, tattoos). I’m very upset the nasal method isn’t an option this year.

I am so sorry.

In addition to the numerous restrictions, an original article mentioned she worked at an Amazon fulfillment center. I know enough about those jobs to understand the required time off for all steps of the abortion process in TN would have potentially left her with no job. I’m also guessing she would have not fared well

Kentucky is one of my home states (in fact, my very first vote was for Galbraith!), so I follow their political news because their population is truly a microcosm of the country. While it’s true that the lower income brackets aren’t to blame for the upset, NPR had some excellent coverage on those who were voting for

Fuck YES!!

Yup. I was dry-eyed until a friend forwarded this post on FB last night.
