You don’t have to die to suffer horrendous injuries from hot metal burns =(

I’m just gunna throw it out there, I agree with this edict.

If I recall correctly, the sidesticks on the Airbus on AF447 averaged out the opposing forces, thereby cancelling out the commands. There IS a priority button that overrides this, but no one used it (or even thought about it until far too late).

Does the 777 have “let the autopilot land the damn plane” mode?

L’amateurs.

Is your son Hagrid, gamekeeper and keeper of keys at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry?

Wait, your son...on a bike...did enough damage to total an SUV? Was it like a 1995 Ford Explorer? How does that even happen?

In the Netherlands it is included in your normal household insurance. You can take an extra insurance against bike-theft but in this case above: you’re normal household/health insurance would cover this. Oh and in Netherlands by default the motorist is wrong in an accident with a cyclist/pedestrian. You have to prove

I am a firm believer that tax collection is valid just because the government want income. The government needs to provide something to taxpayers in exchange for taxes. In the case of property taxes, what is he getting for his taxes? How is that different than what houseboat and yacht owners pay and receive? The BS

I don’t think you can own a deed of water metric space, since it’s constantly moving, changing.

we have boat houses on the DC waterfront that are less boat-like than this by far. none of them are rich though

What’s awesome is to be one of the Captains of a casino “boat” and get a six figure, large passenger boat Captain’s salary for doing basically nothing but starting the engines and running safety drills now and then.

Reminds me of Sausalito, where there was (is?) a whole colony of floating barges that are homes right off shore.

Lawyer:
“This isn’t a house, it’s a ship!”
Me:
Okey-dokey!:

there is a whole TV show about the building of this boat.

Sucks to be the county on this one - that thing is clearly a boat if it can cruise around under it’s own power. If they want to tax it, they need to do what my summer haunt of Maine does - annual excise tax on boats. On a brand new $3.3M boat, that would be $79,200 the first year. And of course, another 5.5% sales tax

So, it’s a houseboat. An expensive houseboat.

If the rules dictate it has to be able to reach speeds of at least 5 knots under power, and have certain controls and it meets those rules then it is exempt. Change the rules if you want to classify as something else, otherwise it isn’t cheating it is just playing by the rules.

Whether it is a boat or a “structure”, it is not real estate, and should not be taxed as such.

Paint this as a “rich persons loophole” all you want, but I bet the upkeep on this thing eclipses the property tax the county would be assessing anyway. Not to mention the extra cost of making the house seaworthy compared to just building the house on land likely would never make up for the property taxes assessed. So
