I read (albeit a few years ago) that an Android phone’s battery gauge will read zero before the battery itself actually hits zero (maybe 20%). Is this true? Was it ever true?

As a matter of fact, I do. I have two paid accounts with Private Internet Access (privateinternetaccess.com). Their app is easy to use and they probably have the most servers out there. You can choose any of their exit servers yourself instead of being arbitrarily assigned to one like other services. They’re also

I used to use Tunnelbear till a couple of years ago when the connection speed dropped drastically. I hope it’s improved; it was one of the best consumer VPNs out there.

It’s Allo an instant messaging app i.e, Allo to Allo only) or is it supposed to work with standard SMS as well? I’m confused .

I hear the State Department is already being swamped with passport applications. I predict Canada and Ireland are about to have a population boom come November 8 if Trump wins. Me, I’ve got a nice little villa picked out in Las Islas Canarias. Might as well ride out the apocalypse in comfort.

What about other citrus-y drinks like Gatorade or Sprite? Do they have the same effect? What about lemonade or OJ?

Heck I’ve been sleeping naked for decades - it’s definitely the way to go. I do sleep better and I’m at the point where if I have to wear something to bed I wind up tossing and turning all night.

Augh! Why do I get the feeling that the USB-C spec was a mistake?

I own several Seiko quartz chronographs ranging from $60 to $400, and I love them. It’s rare that I have to reset them - they keep amazingly accurate time and have a clever indicator when the battery needs changing before it goes completely dead - the second hand starts bouncing two seconds at a time.

Want there a proposal to turn empty space shuttle external tanks into orbital habitats? Instead they let 'em all burn up in the atmosphere. What a waste!

Bah. Next they'll be blaming the results on tides caused by the position of the moon when the event was held.

Relax, Brian. One day you too will be part of the "older" generation and read articles about how the oldsters still insist on using smartphones instead of whatever fancy gadgets smart kids use.

Errr.. is it any good?

It helps your credit as long as you don’t use it. The moment you use even a small amount of it — say $450 out of a total available credit of $30,000 — your score drops a few points. The entire credit score thing is nothing but a bloody scam.

Now if Google would only work on inbox’s unreliable notifications. I only get notified of incoming mail maybe 20% of the time - maybe 25% on a good day. I have to keep Gmail notifications turned on because Inbox does such an execrable job.

Maybe it needs to be able to stop in a dime - like when a car emerging from beneath it decides to make a sudden lane change that takes it over the rail just a wee bit too soon?

Gee and here I was thinking they were gonna say use your credit card to buy a new microwave!

About freaking time. I’ve always been irritated at having to tell Maps and other nav apps where I was going next after reaching each destination. It seems like such an obvious thing.

If I may ask, how do they do it in hospitals that use prophylactic leech therapy? Same technique?

Sounds like a good reason to install rooftop solar and a Tesla Powerwall. Sure the initial investment is steep but then there’s no indication that electric companies are ever going to back off surge pricing. The pricing will just get worse as it gets hotter, because profit.
