I thought Eggers did a nice job of looking at post-recession America in a globalized economy. As a Kafkaesque parody of America's declining place in the world, I think the novel works. What didn't work for me was the romance that took up the last quarter of the book.

Jeremy Renner sheds a lonely tear.

That moment where you realize that a company valued in the billions is run by a bunch of idiots.

It usually falls on the 20th of April.

I've been meaning to watch A Fistful of Dynamite for some time now. Thanks, Hulu!

He's able to get intense migraines. His doctors call it CTE, but Tennon's optimistic and uses the "super power" label.

SPOILER ALERT

I was trying to pinpoint exactly when this season went off the rails, and I think this is the last truly good episode. From here on out, it gets awfully shaky.

The CinemaSins videos are really stupid, but this guy also seems to be way too bothered by them. CinemaSins videos are dumb internet content made for dumb people. Logically refuting the stupid things they say probably won't change the minds of their viewers, because they're mostly idiots anyway. It's just not worth

I got around to seeing Midnight Special, which was an emotionally sneaky film. Much of the film is really restrained and understated, so by the time you get to the end it hits you harder than you'd expect. This Jeff Nichols fellow is going places!

I watched MASH (the movie) for the first time a couple of years ago, and the misogyny was surprisingly blatant, even compared to other films from that time period or, hell, decades prior. You can't just blame this film's hatred of women on the time period when it was made.

"Rose Parade" is one of my absolute favorites of his. The lyrics contain some really great details, like exchanging a food stamp for a cigarette or later in the song when he notes that the trumpet player in the band has been drinking. He gets so much emotion out of just describing events going on around him.

I thought that this was going to be a bland hatesong because "American Pie" is such an easy target, but then Yeaton shows up and he's really done his homework. Also, I'm surprised there are people here actually defending this incredibly inane song, so kicking Don McLean around is apparently still necessary.

Douchebaggery is not a condition limited to one age demographic.

Letters are expensive. Have you watched Wheel of Fortune these days? I remember when vowels only cost a nickel!

It's a real shame her parents had such a hard time spelling the name Jessica.

Maybe young movie-goers are lobotomized zombies, but from my experience a good chunk of the morons using their phones in the theaters are forty and up. Age is not the sole factor for becoming a lobotomized zombie.

I did think it was hilarious when Reyes tries to trip up Clancy Brown by saying that you shouldn't judge the events of a battle unless you were there, and then he reveals that he was in fact there all along! (But for some reason he was referring to himself in the third person). I half expected a record scratch to

Synergy!

"That’s a flimsy foundation to build the back half of this season on, and hopefully the writers will bring more depth to this concept"
