I've actually been revisiting some of the EU books ever since the announcement of Episode VII (because I've been so nerdily excited). I always thought the best EU novels focused mostly on new characters. Very few authors could get the personalities of the original character quite right.

I remember many moons ago, after seeing Dark City in theaters, when I was excited about the prospect of a new Alex Proyas film.

Fuck Dash Rendar! He's a goddamn watered down Han Solo.

If you're a twenty-something without a trust fund, then you're just not cool enough.

The first Jedi Knight game (aka Dark Forces II) was one of the earliest games to really capture the scale of the original trilogy. From the very first shot, those films played around with the extreme immensity of the universe, and I remember Jedi Knight trying to replicate this in its design.

There are a few options. I looked into it a few years ago when the headphone jack was going screwy on my eight year old ipod. But they're more expensive than you might think. Of course, there's Pono, which will put you back $400, but even cheaper options are usually above $200. I ended up just replacing my headphone

So, all 25 songs are by Pollard, right?

At this point don't they have to claim that they've been offered a superhero film? Wouldn't it be embarrassing if all of their director friends were all given superhero films and they were the odd people out?

Hollywood doesn't play by your rules, man!

Slate's self-consciously trolling. This article seems genuine to me. Also, I happen to agree with many of the points the author makes. The prequels may have been failures, but they have their moments. (And also the good outweighs the bad of Episode III).

I might have to add that to my holiday viewing schedule. Thanks!

Since you appear to be a gentleman of knowledge, does Chewie's family ever show up in any of the Expanded Universe novels, or are they strictly forgotten after the Holiday Special?

I guess this begs the question, do you want this teen to survive into his twenties or not?

Jesus Christ, that photo of Lumpy is fucking scary! I've never seen the Holiday Special, so for those who have, is Chewbacca supposed to be a dead beat dad, or something? Or is it like he's a dad who's also a long haul trucker? Or is the fact that he's gallivanting about the galaxy with Han and away from his family

"One of us! One of us! Gooba-gobble, gooba-gobble!"

Plus, C3PO's personality worked well within the ensemble. He played his role well and didn't overpower others. His relationship with R2 is alternately funny and touching, which is difficult to achieve when your characters aren't human and one of them doesn't even speak.

Huh? I hadn't noticed.

I'm glad that The Clone Wars series was Lucas's last time working in his sandbox, because it really showed that, with the right collaborators, he still has the potential to be the visionary we all took him as so many years ago. And, for me, they demonstrate that the prequels, for all their faults, built on the Star

I agree that people get hyperbolic about the prequels, and after I got over my disappointment that the films weren't better, I've found plenty of things that I actually like about them. Still, the Padme/Anakin romance is the linchpin of the prequels and that it was handled so poorly hurts all three films. For me, the

"One funny thing about the Star Wars Extended Universe is that creators tend to want to obediently follow any material established in the canon, which leads to, for instance, the Star Wars role-playing game treating entire races as if the one example seen in the movies was representative of every individual in the
