Good catch, I missed that the first time. Not a whole lot left of that tree!

I also see a lack of clutch master/cable from the under hood shot. The yellow dot buried to the left of the head could be a trans dipstick/tube cap as well.

From a mechanics POV, Spool valve failure in the rack. Possibly a blocked return, or the spool is floating on the shaft. It thinks its being told to turn, till it torques up the steering shaft. From a mechanics POV... this is a spool valve failure in the rack. Best guess is there may be a blocked return port, or the valve body is somehow floating on the shaft. So every time it tries to react to input, it swaps and tries to react the other way. Looks like it has resulted in full assist death wobble.
