I didn't read the rest of the comments, but one great cheat for Google voice if you have Verizon is to add your Google voice number to your "Friends and Family" cell phone plan. Then, if you call it, you can dial a number through it. That means you can make any call for free.

@What The Geek: I agree that free doesn't necessarily lessen the client's expectations. A big part of the problem is that the client frequently doesn't really understand the work involved. I've noticed this is a real problem with art or design related work. Most logos look relatively simple (think McDonald's or

Whoever took this photo exposed for the sun instead of the bikini-clad brunette on the left.

Thank you! This was one of the things I was annoyed about switching to Android from Windows Mobile. I didn't understand why my phone from 2005 running WM5 could play divx and wmv files and my Droid couldn't.

@Boylerules: Funny thing is you need to pay attention to the pat down. This is what I do, and I'm embarrased to admit that on more than one occassion I did the pat down, walked out the door, then realized halfway to my car that I didn't feel my wallet.

When I was growing up birthday/Christmas gifts were relatively expensive. My wife's family, on the other hand, are very low-key. Christmas gifts are usually of the $10 order or less, birthday gifts somewhere around $20, occasionally more if something is "perfect".

Oh for crying out loud. WebOS isn't on there because it isn't worth spending the time to write about it just so *both* of its users can feel validated.

@themightyspitz: BLAHDITY BLAH BLAH I SHOULD SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY KIIIIIIIIDS

Whenever anyone has problems with the smell of a litterbox, I always recommend using better litter. Our cat used to smell up our one bedroom apartment and it was really annoying. Finally I saw a bag of FreshStep litter that was $16 instead of the $14 of the econo-bag we got. I took a chance, and now we rarely notice

For tying a bowline, I preferred the slipknot method. Couldn't find a better video, but this shows the process. Once you do it a couple times, it's the fastest way possible. [www.youtube.com]

I should note if you think you might need this function, there are quit a few "remember where I parked" apps in the market. CarrMatey comes to mind, but there are a lot of them. Car Finder AR is an augmented reality one, that displays a little orb over your car. Anyway, they work great in parking lots.

@PKTRaul: FYI - if you have a Droid or a backflip, they sell a little rubber overlay for the keyboard that a lot of people say works pretty well: [sites.google.com]

@p_scobel: I think the problem is that our society keeps lowering the bar on what something is before we stop calling it "simple".

@sulayman: Agreed. I don't see anything dangerous about this at all, as long as you're not an idiot. People are wimps.

The lack of annoying comments like, "Lifehacker! For shame, teaching people how to steal and pirate because there is no legitimate use for ripping!" makes me feel like there's hope for the human race.

@pdditty: The return policy is a major factor for me. I actually end up buying more apps on Android because I'm not afraid to install full versions, really get to try them out, and return it if I don't like it.

@hattmardy: Yeah, I thought this was a little lame. Exchange syncing works great - my address book and contacts all went OTA without a problem. They did throw in iTunes as a "non-google sync" which I think is a little unfair. I mean, Froyo lets you sync your music from your desktop OTA. Does that count?

I went from disposable razors, to electric, to straight razors, to safety razors, and then back to disposables. The quality of shave you get with those 3, 4, and 5 blade razors and the ease is just hard to scoff at.

@thepcguy: Completely agree, but honestly I think the usage of the term "work of art" here was an informal usage and basically just saying, "it makes pretty pictures."
