My NB Miata really needed a 6th gear on the interstate, my SRT-4 was fine with 5 speeds as it had so much torque and 5th was fairly tall it could just pull itself up any incline with no need to downshift to keep speed up.

Same on growing up on 5speeds. Then I got a 6spd and 6th was wear reverse was on a 5 spd. It always made me nervous going into 6th. Fortunately the gauge cluster would display what gear you were in.

I currently drive a 5 speed. I understand why it died.

I grew up mainly driving 5spd manuals. Reverse was always back to the right, or shared a slot with 1st provided you lifted the lock out ring.

Many other countries see that adults on bicycles is a viable transportation system. In the USA bicycling as transportation is seen as the last refuge of the poor, and that the poor deserve every punishment for being unworthy.

I mean, sure, take up the whole lane and impede traffic. It’s your right. But I question whether pissing off everyone behind you is a “safe” strategy.

Because 99% of them are assholes.

Cyclists do seem to get angry when it is suggested they make changes to be able to share the road, I dunno why.
