It is sad to see things change. 35 years ago I sailed on Stolt Tankers chemical tankers. The crew were from the Philippines and most of the officers were European. I found the Philippine crew to be excellent knowledgeable hardworking crew members. Myself; I grew up in Norway and went to a maritime school in Arendal. (I

Could have been worse, he could have used Helvetica........

Who watches the Weather Channel anymore? Anything there is available on the web and you can get to the actual information in much less time.

Snow/winter tires are in issue. I spend a lot of time all around the Buffalo, NY area and its like anywhere else in the country. At most 10% of people put on winter tires. Majority just go with all-seasons, and a good 10% or more have tires with so little tread they are not safe in any condition, let along snow.

Stuff I have in the back of my car during winter:

snow chains
blanket
rope (thin and thick)
medkit
axe
complete set of tools (hammer, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, you know)
gloves
bottles of water
flashlight (rechargeable using usb - usb 12v charger)
a real spare wheel (“why waste so much space in your trunk - well if I

Can we just stop with the winter storm naming? The National Weather Service and NOAA don’t do it. The for-profit Weather Channel INSISTS on pushing it down upon everyone who visits their site.

This was my first thought as well. Since most head-ons are partially offset, a RHD vehicle is exactly where you’d want to be.

First off, uh holy shit. Secondly, I bet it was because the postal truck is rhd

It would be interesting to see the After-Action Report, or AAR. How many of the stranded vehicles had winter survival kits? How many had proper winter tires? How many of those drivers absolutely had to be on the road? Was their enough media blitz warning against this (through FB, social media, TV, radio, etc.)? If so,

Wow. The storm had a name? I guess it’s bad out there. Bad for me too. I had to park in lot 2 here at the beach in L.A. Crowded for sure.

At least we haven’t made any of these guys our President unlike America did in 2016.

Aluminum can clog up some cutting wheels causing them to wear or break a lot faster. There are a lot of crimes that the burglar can take all the time he wants, but getting up under a car and sawing out a catalytic converter like a banshee in the dead of night is a quick in and out job.

It’s well documented that pineapples will eat right through 5052 aluminum.

100% the only people who make money in class action suits are the lawyers.

What they really should be sued over is the “Keurig 2.0" that refused to make coffee unless you used Keurig brand pods. It’s not that it couldn’t, it just refused to work unless its sensor saw special ink on the pod top.

Then you should have gone to law school and been a lawyer on this case.  That’s the only way to get rich off class action suits.

I have tried 1,315 different varieties of Keurig cups and I feel like I should get more than 36 bucks for that.

The waste of space known as Elizabeth Yuko?!

head over to Bloomberg and read the whole thing be greeted with a paywall.
