From experience, you are correct. Growing up, you’re in the holiday shadow and all the relatives give you a birthday/Christmas present that’s exactly the same as your brother’s who gets ANOTHER present for his birthday in May. Any birthday party has a 50% no-show due to illness, even if you schedule for a week later.

My stance is that Black Friday ought to serve as the hard open to the Christmas music season, unless I’m drunk and in a really weird place and I need to queue up the Nutcracker Suite just so that I might be able to feel once more.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the best new beers that have come out were Imperials or Double (and Triple) IPAs. And your list reflects that. Are we getting better flavors, or are our addled livers demanding more for the same buzz?
