One of the new sandwiches is the “Ultimate BMT”, which is just a BMT with extra cheese. I finally tried one the other day when a customer ordered a footlong, but I cut the bread in-half and folded the meat up to fit.

It’s surprisingly...easier? I know that sounds weird, but we used to have to wad-up the meats in a very specific way when prepping. Now we just let the slicer run and check it every 30 seconds, chuck it into a pan, and go do other stuff. Much easier and less time-consuming, which I didn’t realize would be the case.
If they increased the wages or hired more people, the items would necessarily cost more. This is how businesses work.
Every time I walk through Downtown Disney outside Disneyland there’s a huge line at the Starbucks, while there are plenty of other ways to get caffeine very close by and with no wait. It’s just a horrible strategic decision to opt for that specific coffee drink when you’ve paid for a day-long ticket. Plus, I’m going…
I don’t use the app or care about any rewards programs, so I found Starbucks at Disneyland to be one of the few food items that weren’t wildly overpriced. Since it was so close to the entrance we started our day there.
We had a licensed starbucks at my university, they made it as shitty as possible. For instance you could buy starbucks gift cards at the university location but couldn’t use them there, similarly all the apps and rewards didn’t work (you couldn’t even earn rewards either). A LOT of people were furious over the gift…
If you aren’t picky about where you get your coffee, don’t stand in line for Starbucks in a Disney park. The Starbucks lines are MUCH longer than other stands which usually sell Peet’s. Other alternatives include a counterservice restaurant at your hotel or there is a drip machine in most rooms with complementary…
The labor shortage is a driving force behind the expansion of these machines. A traditional grocery shopping setup requires one cashier (and possibly a bagger) per every checkout lane, while only one employee is needed to oversee as many as 10 self-checkout kiosks. Even as stores like Wegmans and Amazon Fresh rethink…
‘labor shortage’ is anti-labor propaganda, fuck anyone repeating that shit line
“labor shortage” is company language for “willing to work part time for no benefits and minimum wage with some off the clock work and random scheduling to prevent working elsewhere.”
Coastal SoCal, it’s nice. Sadly homes start at like 1.5M here now for basic 3 bed 2 bath.
Where do you live? I want to move there.
Eh I wouldn’t blame the ‘labor shortage’ on the growth of self-checkout. Maybe I’ve been in a test market or something but most shops here have been 75% self-checkout for years and are dreaming of the day when it works well enough to sack the rest of the cashiers - but right now the system, thankfully, still sucks and…
The kind of people that want self check out are the kind of people that don’t tip.
I have only gone to Walmart to steal.
The stop and shop gun is amazing. I don’t ever want to go back
Stop and Shop has a similar system that utilizes a handheld scanner gun. (There may also be an app, IDK.) Scan your loyalty card to activate, scan and bag as you go, then it tots up the purchase, including any digital coupons, and either generates a barcode that you scan at the checkout machine or tells you to find a…
the best method so far is Meijer’s, they have self checkouts (both 12 items or less and full lane self checkouts) and their app lets you scan while you shop and when you are ready to checkout you scan a QR code on the self checkout register which randomly needs vetted by a cashier. Sometimes you don’t need vetterd,…
I drives me nuts at Sam’s to see someone with 2 carts overflowing with stuff heading towards the self checkout. IMNSHO self checkout is for a dozen items or less. I do like the Sam’s app that lets me scan as I put things in my cart then just swipe to pay. BJ’s needs to get that too. I’ll never buy produce if I know I…
Walmart’s self-check works pretty well, but most times that I go in there I’m stocking up, and I think that’s it wrong to self-check with more than about a dozen items.
